CORDOVA ALASKA PHOTO TOUR AND WORKSHOP (JUNE 20-27)
Experience photography in this Cordova Alaska Photo Tour and workshop on the famous Copper River Delta. Located at the southeastern end of Prince William Sound, this area of our Chugach National Forest covers approximately 2.3 million acres. You will be guided to your locations by plane, boat, and van through epic landscapes and wildlife habitat. This photographic adventure takes you on a journey to explore landscapes where tidal fats meet hemlock-spruce forests, salmon rich streams, bald eagles and out into the waters of Prince William Sound where you’ll see sea otters, coastal bears, moose and much more.
Tour Schedule Overview
DAY 1: We’ll depart Anchorage in our Sprinter Van for the small town of Whittier. From there we’ll load our vehicle on the ferry and board for an amazing ride through Prince William Sound. After we check into our lodging, we’ll be right on schedule to do some exploring and catch sunset.
Tonight we’ll go over the schedule and locations once more for the days ahead.
DAY 2 – 5: For the next 6 days each day will include a brief about our locations as well instruction on photo techniques. We’ll visit scouted locations, which will vary depending on the light and weather. Rain or shine Cordova offers incredible landscape, history and wildlife photo opportunities not seen by many.
DAY 6: After breakfast we’ll load the Sprinter and make our way to the Ferry and travel through Prince William Sound to Whittier. Along the way back to Anchorage, we’ll have time to photograph in Portage Valley and along the Turnagain Arm. In Anchorage we’ll say good by for now as we all part ways with friendships made and memories captured.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This photo adventure is prime for both intermediate to advanced photographers. You should at least understand basic composition, fluent with your menu systems and manual settings, we can help from there. Primary focus of the workshop will cover basics of location scouting, advanced composition, and Adobe Lightroom techniques. Prince William Sound region brings varied weather, there is always a secondary focus planned should weather or wildlife not cooperate.
Days have the potential to be long when conditions are at their prime. We’ve planned to keep a balanced pace, but if we’re feeling it, we’ll stay out. There will be light hiking, you should be comfortable hiking at least 2-4 miles with little to no elevation gain. We do have one hike that offers more physical demand, while optional the views are priceless! Pre-packed lunches will be made available when we’re out in the field.
