Trip Itinerary - 6 Hours

This tour departs from any Anchorage location. Pick up time is between 9am - 10am. We will transfer your luggage to our vehicle and  begin your 6-hour adventure. We will take a short city tour of Anchorage and make stops at Point Woronzof/Earthquake Park; Lake Hood. Later we continue our scenic drive south along the edge of the Turnagain Arm on the Seward Parkway. This road is considered to be America’s most beautiful and scenic road, crossing mountain passes and majestic valleys. Along the way we will try to spot moose, eagles and other wildlife.

Later, we continue our journey towards the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, which is located at the southern edge of Turnagain Arm at the entrance to Portage Valley. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a non profit organization dedicated to conservation, education, and quality animal care. They're also dedicated to preserving Alaska's wildlife. Animals that are unable to be released or survive in the wild are given refuge in the center's spacious habitats. Here people can safely get close, observe and photograph some of Alaska's largest land animals, including moose, bison, elk, deer, caribou, bears muskox, small mammals and birds of prey. During spring and summer, visitors can often witness the rehabilitation of orphaned baby animals of various species. After an informative visit to the center with the largest of Alaska's wild animals, your tour will continue on to Whittier with a few more stops along the Seward Highway and the Turnagain Arm. This road is considered to be America’s most beautiful and scenic road. Along the way we will try to spot moose, Dall sheep, eagles and other wildlife. On our way towards Whittier, we will make a couple of stops for photo opportunities along Portage Valley. Soon after, you will enter the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel (often referred to simply as the Whittier Tunnel) a multi-use highway and railroad tunnel that passes under Maynard Mountain. This tunnel is the second longest highway tunnel and longest combined rail and highway tunnel in North America. As we exit the Whittier Tunnel, you will enjoy beautiful mountain vistas and your awaiting cruise ship.

Allow up to 6 hours (approximately) to Whittier for this tour. Snacks and light lunch can be purchased at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
